Don't know if it's the right forum, but I'll try
I have a mde-file, sometimes I update this one.
I want to send a batch/ini file to everyone which do the following:
(over)write user.mde to the profile of each user (so it doesn't matter which user is on which PC, on the desktop is a 'quick link' (doesn't know the right Eng. term)

You can try Tread181-52728, or 181-30072 .

Or try faq705-2010, but it uses a vbscript which causes anti-virus programs to kick in.

If you are still interested, I have many programs that I keep up-to-day using a second Mde file that is called if the frontend version is not the same as the version in a setup table in the backend on the server. It closes the calling program (if still open), copies the new fronend to the users machine, then restarts the new program. The user only sees a form in the second Mde that says ‘Please wait…Updating Program’. To update a frondend I simply copy the new frontend to the server, in the same directory where the backend and second Mde are, change the version in the setup table in the backend. The next time a user opens their program – its updated.

In each frontend I verify/write an .ini file in the windows directory with the path to the frontend and to the backend that it uses. The update .Mde on the server looks to this .ini file for the path to copy the new frontend. I also do this because a few machines must be updated by disks and that’s a trip, compressing the frontend across 3 or more disks.

If you want to try this method, I can provide more info or small sample databases.
