Update / upgrade sendmail

if you create your saendmail.cf file from your own modified mc file, then store the mc file safely, install the new sendmail and then compile your old mc file with the new sendmail, it should still work.
new versions of sendmail usually just build on the old versions so files should still work the same way as before.
however, that said, what versions are you planning on going from and too?

hmm, not too sure on the old version, but its on a rh6.2 box. I tried the new 8.12.6, but found I all of a sudden needed a submit.mc and submit.cf file. the old sendmail.mc I have backed up, and I was using this. Maybe I need to go a release down...

Refer to following thread: thread14-340453 in the same forum where i have mentioned the procedure for implementing sendmail. The same procedure could also be used to upgrade the sendmail.
