Well had a query to ask :-

In crystal > in Field Exploer > Set Datasource location >

This is the place where we change the DAta Source location from one DB to another right (provided the table layout etc etc are ditto).

How do I UPDATE the datasource of current DB in use with another DB at once than manually updating the Tables with its corresponding tables in the new DB. This goes same for the Subreport too.,.??

Basically I want to use the same report but to work with different DB so how do i update the tables and DB all at once ?

Regards

hi ,

Has anyone faced similar issue or they know of a solution ?

Did you try selecting the current datasource then selecting the new datasource and then clicking on "update"? You would have to do this separately for the subreport, selecting the datasource for the sub and then selecting the new datasource->update.

hi Lbass,

yes i have tried that... and wht it does is that it just updates the name of the datasource but not the Tables within it.

Then i have to go to each table and update with corresponding table in new data source manually ?

Is this a bug in Crystal 2008 ??

regards

Hi,
Are you sure it is not the new data? Crystal ( at least thru XI) does not change the name of the tables when the daatasource is changed ( to let existing formulas, etc. work without re-editing)

The report structure is absolutely same.
Its basically a report template that has been created and now to use this templace All i need to do is change the Datasource Location.

But in order to do this I have to manually update the tables inspite of tables structure in each individual DB is smack on same.

The table names are also same just a different project.

So yea,
how do i update all the tables in the report and subreport at one go ??

regards

You have to remove the schema name from each table.

In set data source for each table open up the properties by clicking on +

Double click Overriden qualified table name and type in the name of the table/view.

You can now just move report from one data source to another without updating tables.

Sorry,

i could not figure on how to do this, I was under Datasource loation > Current Data source Window > Clicked + sign for each table > Double click Overriden qualified table name > so do you want me to put down the name of table ?

i am sorry totally confused on what you were trying to say.
