Update Service For Virus Protection

I have Norton Antivirus 2001. After Reinstalling it, I have not been able to download updates. When running LiveUpdate it says its downloaded it but when i restart they have not loaded up. has this got anything to do with the update service thing in the main av box???

Please can somebody help !!
