I just installed Update Rollup 1 for Windows SP4, and then found I could not access internet. I checked event viewer and found following
"The DNS Client service could not contact any DNS servers for a repeated number of attempts. For the next 30 seconds the DNS Client service will not use the network to avoid further network performance problems. It will resume its normal behavior after that. If this problem persists, verify your TCP/IP configuration, specifically check that you have a preferred (and possibly an alternate) DNS server configured. If the problem continues, verify network conditions to these DNS servers or contact your network administrator.".
Since this update was all I added I decided to uninstall and here I am back as normal and fully connected.
Does anyone know if this update is necessary and why it should cause this problem?

I don't about that problem, but I do know that the update fixes problems with saving to floppy disks. I've had to install it on close to 10 computers on my network due to people having problems saving Microsoft office documents to floppy disks...when they try to save, it will cause the computer to basically lock up and then they receive debugger errors and have to pretty much restart the computers.
