Hello,
I seem to be having trouble updating a reportset. I wish to add reports to an existing reportset without loosing any custom views previously created. this means that I can't simply republish the reportset because I will loose all existing custom views.
I am not sure of the steps necessary to update a reportset - can this be done effectively? Cognos documentation doesn't address this action very well.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Republishing a reportset will not lose any current report settings or custom views of existing reports.

Republishing the reportset will only add any new reports to the reportset.

Yes, but I cannot get a reportset to properly update. I add the report to the correct physical location where the reportsets are stored, and I use the update existing reportset option in report administration. when I click OK, I get the normal dialog box that says the reportset is publishing.
After I get report adminstration to refresh, the status tab says that the reportset failed to publish.
I am not sure how to go about updating so that I can add reports to reportsets.
To get it to publish successfully, I have to delete the reportset and republish again. This looses all of my custom views of reports.

Read the Log file that is created to identify why the Reportset Publish is failing.
Some common problems:
1. More than one catalog in the folder you are attempting to publish from.
2. No catalog in the folder you are attempting to publish from.
3. Wrong catalog in the folder you are attempting to publish from.
4. Special characters in catalog or report names.
5. Path to ReportSet is too long.
6. Report Name is too long.

Report Administrator tells you exactly where the log file is located.
