Update queries prompting with write conflict

Every time i run an update query i keep getting an error saying 'write conflict' and asks me to copy the information to the clipboard. I am the only user of the database and this has only started happening recently as it was working perfectly before.

You are sure you don't have multiple copies of Access running on your machine?

Yes. I am absolutely positive. As i said it has only just started happening. Well, in the code it happens just after the query has been run and i refresh the form with the information that is being updated.

Odd. Are all the tables in the database or are any of them linked to a remote database?
