Good morning,
I am trying to straighten out a canned training mdb from the back end that got buggered from a lack standardization from the outset.
There are 465 training records (training type)
There are over 10,000 of the above in the employee training table.
I have re-configured with the limited options and am now trying to run as many update queries as I can in order to populate 3 fields.
Problem is that in the training description field some yahoo used parenthesis and when I go to update TO FROM I get an error message for improper syntax.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
-JRS

Hi

By parenthesis you mean () ?

If so not sure I understand why that should cause a problem, now using " or ' I could se would cause a problem

could you post an example ?

ISO EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS (REVISED)
ISO Form FM20310 (boxed resin)

Are a couple, I also found this one
1.0 New Hire "on floor" Orientation
Don't know if the "" will make a difference or not.
Thanks for the response

Hi

I do not see why ISO EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS (REVISED)

would cause a problem have you tried it what happens ?

From
ISO EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS (REVISED)
To
Extrusion Manufacturing Process

Results in an improper syntax error message because it sees the parenthesis as an access formula is my best guess.

Hi

I have just tried:

UPDATE Table1 SET Table1.strTest = "ISO EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS (REVISED)"
WHERE (((Table1.strTest)="ISO EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS (REVISED)"));

It worked no problem (Access2000)

How are you doing the update?
