Update or change image in asp

I want to have an asp page that presents new links of reports that a user has made. What I want to have happen is that when the link first shows up there is a "NEW" image next to the link. Then after the user clicks on the link it changes the "NEW" image to a "BLANK" image (or it can just remove the "NEW" image). Below is an example of what I'm talking about, I just don't know where to start.
