Update or append query

Can someone please help me out with this one? I've seen similar examples but nothing clear enough for me to work with.

I have an append query, which I would LOVE to be an update query that would only append if it can't find the plan_id I am looking for.

Is there an easy way to do this?

You have to play with a LEFT JOIN.

OOps, sorry for the typo, I meant a RIGHT JOIN.

Use the unmatched query wizard to get the records in the new file not in your "master" file. Then append the records from that query to the file.

Make a backup of your database file before you try this.
