Update MDAC advice

Could someone please advise me as to whether or not to keep up with installing the latest MDAC updates (2.8)? Is doing so important?

The only programming I know is self taught, so I'm not a professional in that area, and would appreciate the advice.

I've installed the latest Jet service paks.

I use access 2000 with Windows XP. A colleague who uses one of my Access programs runs Windows 2000.

Thank you for your help.
