Hello
I am running a Home LAN with one Linux box and the rest Windows 98.
I am playing around with the DHCP server letting the Linux box allocate IP #s for the Windows nodes.
The question I have is there a way to update the HOST file on the linux machine or is there a WINS type server with Red Hat Linux 6.0????
If so how do I enable WINS Server on Linux box??
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish, however you can assign specific IP's to your Win9x machines in the DHCP.conf file under /etc/ (/etc/dhcp.conf) You can assign the enter the MAC address and have it assign a "static" like address to each of your machines.

Very easy.
war...

Can you give me a example of what the syntax would be???
