within hr, we have 100,000 folders

a total of 113,000 documents are contained across these folders

the documents are mostly pdfs which are sometimes difficult to read and can not be ocr'd

we are in an effort to update cats/atts against all folders/documents

currently we are manually updating cats/atts by opening the pdfs to determine what values need applied

how can i better automate this process?

Easy Step 1-Purchase web reports and code your way
Medium Easy step 2-use lapi or websvcs and code your way
Medium Easy step3-use Object Importer and create XML files to do the change
Maybe difficult Step 4-use OScript to code the change

I see a tangent on your posting ,you have to read each document to know the value ? which to me means that you would need a rendition tool like adlib and access to its API to read info that it ocre'd
To me either you would have to find a livelink solution vendor or coder who has perhaps done this before.I know that microsoft word has an api that would read metadata and contents, perhaps there is an api in the PDF world as well.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
