update addess book PAB file without closing MS Outlook 1

how can I update an MS Outlook 2002 or 2003 address book without having to close Outlook. I need to copy the address book file (mailbox.pab) to the windows folder where MS Outlook is set to but if MS Outlook is open I get a "cannot copy mailbox.pab, File in use by another person."

That's to avoid corruption. Keep in mind that Microsoft did away with the external .pab files with 2003, opting to keep the info in Contacts within the mailbox (in Exchange or the .pst file).
