Me again,
I have a form that contains order data, taken from a parameter query so I can view a particular order and update it's status if necessary.

I have found that if I set the forms properties to "Data Entry - Yes" so I can make changes on the form, it does not appear when opened.
If I set the properties to "Data Entry - No", the form appears with the correct order displayed (thanks to the parameter query), but it won't allow me to make any changes.

Is there a way to display a form based on a query, and make changes to it?

Many thanks once again
Phil

the "Data Entry" property simply means that the form will be opened to a new record, empty, ready for data entry.

"Allow Edits" property is the one that allows editing/updating of a record. But if you open the record and it will not allow you to edit, then what fneily says is true. You may not need to use a query; what are you trying to do? You may just be able to open a table to the record you wish to see instead.

Setting a form's property to "Data Entry" means you want to start with a BLANK form, in order to add NEW records.

Just open it with the normal property - you can than browse and edit any existing records, and, if you want, add new ones.

FNeilY is also correct - if your query does not return an updateable recordset, setting the form property to Normal will show you the records, but you won't be able to edit them.

Non-updateable recordsets usually result from turning a relation upside down - going from Many to One somehow in your joins.

A totals query is also non-updateable.

Thanks fneily your advice helped me to discover that my tanle relationships in the query needed sorting out.

All sorted now
