Hi Guys,

Has anyone any info on the upcoming release 5.0

Is this just for 50/450 or is the 200/400 to be included and the whole range being synced up ?

Nortel sure know how to piss of existing customers don't they..

If its not broke tweak it..

Absolutely, it doesn't make sense to me that they would omit the 200/400 from the new release.

Khosher: I think it's because both unit will soon be MD'd. 200 should've been MD'd a while back when the BCM50 came out. Now that the 450 is here, why buy a 400?

I think it is just harsh on customers that have invested in them in the last two years or so, as the 450 isn't even out one year yet. Surely it would take too much just to sync the feature set.

Just my opinion that's all

Nortel have said that going forward the only two BCMs will be the 50 & 450.

Does anyone know if the release 5 upgrade for a BCM 50 will work from any previous release or do they have to be on version 3.0 first?

I have a 2.0 system that coudl do with an upgrade, though I coudl wait and take it straight to 5.0 if that will be supported.

As per Nortel the Bcm50 need to be at rel 2.0 minimum for a direct upgrade to 5.0.

Thanks for clarifying, so I can dfer this 2.0 system going to 3.0 for now then given it will be able to go straight to 5.0.

It looks like there will be an upgrade available for bcm200/400 4.0 that will include the following;

BCM Rls 5.0 Upgrade
Components
• BFT with hard drive, CIFC, and misc hardware upgrade
components
• BCM Rls 5.0 software included with hard drive
• Preservation of programming from Rls 4.0
• Software license migration from BCM200/400 to BCM450

Well that's good news..!

I think that one of the cool things about Rel 5 BCM is some kind of tool to migrate your Norstar Mics without having to reprogram. Could be that I just dreamed this one but I hope that it is true.

So the upgrade for the 200/400 is to migrate it to the 450.
At least there is a path.

You will migrate it to the Bcm450 flavor but keeping your old 200/400 chassis.
