I'm fairly new to the VOIP world. Just implemented an Avaya S8300 VOIP solution.

If I'm asked what do I know about VOIP what would be a few good pointers to say?

What are the basics components of VOIP? Such as a gateway server, SIP or H.323 protocols, Codec ect.

I have a brief understanding but cannot put all the pieces together. Your help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I agree. How long have you known about needing knowledge about VOIP? You need to take time to read about it. Get the VOIP for dummies book, it has alot of info in laymans terms. Be up front, remember that a teacher can usually tell when a student uses Cliffs Notes (I know from experience). They may be able to tell, no matter your answer, that you are new to VOIP so just tell them the truth and tell that you will spend time studying on it.

Yes definetely being truthful, but I'd like to sound intelligent when talking about what I know on my own.

The reason why I'm confused is becaused I only had a brief exposure to VOIP even with a migration on a Avaya platform.

Since that Avaya did all the configuarations I was only left to administer the switch.

In any case I am doing my due deligence on VOIP, hence asking here is part of it.
