Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but I'll start here anyway.

A guy I work with is having a problem on his Win 9x computer that may involve a Linux server. I don't know what he was doing (I didn't ask), but at random intervals an Internet Explorer window pops up on his screen soliciting nude videos and live action. When he does a print screen of the pop-up, the address shown on the printout is File://C:\Program%20Files\Webdialer\index.html. Most of the text in the adds is German, or something. Stuff like, "Seht heir live und unzensiert, was sich vor unseren Livecams Aufregendes abspielt."

I did a web search on webdialer, and found this: . This is what led me to believe that a Linux server may be involved.

At any rate, I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to find out where this file is on this guys computer (he's searched the hard drive to no avail) or where it's coming from... and how to stop it!

Thanks! Mike

Nope. Sounds like your 'friend' has gotten himself a virus.

He either installed a bad site dialer, or visited a site that installed an application wich starts every time his computer does.

If he has a virus scan, I suggest he updates it and does a full scan.

Other than that, he's going to have to go through the running processess and track down the item.

*providing it's not a virus
