I am having an issue with voice mail and need some help tracking down the cause.

Callers are forwarded to voice mail on busy or no answer condition. The callers are presented with the primary greeting, immediately after the greeting they are routed to the system attendant mail box. This appears to be occurring only on calls from IP based providers (Comcast or Uverse). All calls from conventional phone lines are fine.

The calls originate from att on an ISDN PRI connected to a NSU on a SX2K (34.2.3.8). The voice mail is a Nupoint IP 4.0 (Build: 14.0.1.28.01). Calls that forward to voicemail are routed to a Hunt group on a 3300ICP (release 7.0.9.5). The link between the 3300 and 2k is MSDN using a DS1 formatter card on the 2k and a NSU on the 3300.

I have called through to each line in the hunt group and was able to leave a message. Where should I look to find the cause of this problem?

Run a ccs trace on some i ncoming calls and look for the digits presented. If there is a # or * in there, that's your problem.

Have a similar setup. Primary system is a 2k w/3300 for VM. Had same issue. Callers hearing greeting then going to Operator....

What worked for us was that we had the users re-record their greeting. Press any other key than the "0" as the "Any Key" to stop recording their greeting. Ensure they push the key, not just bump it. System needs to acknowledge it to stop recording.

We discovered that sometimes the Beep was being recorded as part of the greeting and the system interpreted it as someone pressing the "Operator" key.
