When a user is logged on and is running a utility or SQL the amount of Spool used is shown in the DBC.AllSpace view with the user id as the databasename along with each individual vproc. However when a user logs off AllSpace still shows spool being used.
Does anyone know why this is? Surely if this space is shown as being used by Teradata it cannot be used by anything else.

Cheers

Nick

Which spool are you referring to, CurrentSpool or PeakSpool?
PeakSpool is not reset automatically.
CurrentSpool should be 0 when all session using the same Userid are logged of. If not, it's a left over spool, which should not happen. To get rid of it you'll have to restart or use UPDATESPACE or Update dbc.databasespace

users share spool, that is there a combined spool space. whether any user is logged in or not, assuming they are all of the same object, they will all share the same amount of spool

I don't think the figure will be changed immeditely when you log off.
