i have an Asus graphics card but my hard drive recently died and i cant find the install disks for the drivers...im not even sure which card model im using is there any way to find the driver other than trial and error.

Yes! there is pretty much always a sticker on the back of all graphics cards telling you what they are.
Also even without drivers Windows XP will normally detect the card and so you will be able to look what it is in display properties, so:
right click on desktop/properties/settings.
and download Nvidia detonator drivers for you given O/S
Simple and either will be the most up to date for the card because you are downloading direct from the graphics chipset manufacturer, not the card maker.
One last note** if this turns out to be an ATI based card you will also need to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework software (look out for it on the ATI driver page)

the card turned out to be an asus ati a9250
just one point for others with the same problem...if there is no label on the card itself, check the barcode at the top left on the back of the card. the first section of the barcode will be your card type mine started :-
