I have just moved to a new house and my 8Mb ADSL became live today. And as I am near the telephone exchange, the router shows 8128 kbps, which is fine.
Except after a couple of minutes the connection dies, the internet light goes out on the router and it take four or five minutes for the connection to be re-established.
I'm going to check the wiring but there isn't that much of it - I'm using the primary phone socket which is about 10 feet from the supporting bracket on the side of the house, linking the cable to the nearby telephone post.
I'm using a BT splitter, and only have one PC plugged directly into the router, which is a simple wired Netgear 834G. I've disconnected everything else.
I can't find a fault with my network - when everything is connected, other PCs, printers and the WAP, they all work fine.
Is this something BT need to investigate, either from their local Exchange or visiting and checking checking the wiring up to the primary socket?
I've also notified my ISP, but they seemed to have done everything they should, though they could kick BT's butt I suppose.
Any suggestions - check what external wiring I can?
