Unrecognized Domain Controller

Hi. I am not sure what i am doing wrong - my domain controller has been installed with the defaults on win server 2003. i have one other box that is the database that i am trying to connect to. the other box keeps telling me that it can't find the DC when i try to join the domain from there. Suggestions welcomed at this point. Below is the actual error from the remote box and the results of dcdiag and ipconfig/all from the DC box.

ERROR:

An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain MYDOMAIN.LOCAL.

The error was: "No DNS servers configured for local system."
(error code 0x0000267C DNS_ERROR_NO_DNS_SERVERS)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.MYDOMAIN.LOCAL
