Hi:

I have a database I built for work that has been converted to Access 2010. But when I make a copy of it (on a thumb drive) to work on it at home using Access 2007, I get an "Unrecognized Database Format" error. This has happened for a couple of days now. When But when I open this same copy at work, everything is fine. I have been making copies and working on it from both sides for several months now, but I have never encountered this problem before. Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem and gave up, regardless of what MS says, 2007 & 2010 are not compatible.

Incidentally have you used the new tab control in 2010, remember the other issue is not just the DB format but the controls used. 2007 & 2010 are not the same beast, with differing GUI controls.

I didn't think there was downward compatibility in any version of Access. 2007 should run in 2010 or 2013, but not vice-versa.

I think the confusion arises when the access DB file format is still classed as 2007 even when you made it in 2010?

As long as you don't use anything added in 2010 you can administrate a 2010 access DB in 2007, but it gets flaky very quickly.
