unreadable media during inventory

using arcserve 6.61 with tl891 fibre solution. This solution has 4 dlt drives. Durning inventory it comes back with unreadable media. Any ideas. It shows slots updating it takes an extemly long time to finish the inventory.

I got this message once but it was on a DAT drive. I just formatted the tape and then it comes up as blank and the drive will backup to it just fine.

I had this recently with my new shipment of super dlt tape. It did it on 3 different batches. It was just bad tape.
