Unreadable hd 1week old

im from sweden so my english isn`t the best

one week ago i bought a ibm deskstar 120gb
i worked fine for 3days then i had a system crash
i reinstalled win xp pro after that my hd was "unreadable"
says so in diskmanager

i can backup the files from the disk but i want to get the disk started again

i bought it on sale so there is no guarantee

please i need all the help i can get!

I would start by running a diagnostic on the disk. You should be able to download the diagnostic program from IBM, or Hitachi. That way before you go off checking other things, you'll know if the drive is OK. If it checks out, then you'll have to look at some other things.

I hope you can fix your problem...IBM Deskstar drives are known for their high failure rate -- I lost two already.

How are things going, drzeroz? IslandCustom is right, IBM Deskstar drives do have a high failure rate. Perhaps that's why they sold their drive business to Hitachi. I hope the Hitachi drives are better.
