Hi,
I´m using Fedora Core 5 with Postfix (MAILDIR).
We have recently experienced a server crash while some users were downloading their e-mails ("server" here is the Fedora Core 5 I´ve mentioned).
Most people haven´t been affected after a simple reboot, but 4 important users were unable to receive e-mails from the server. Other services provided by the same server like Internet were working normally in all machines.
The message Outlook displayed in those clientes varied from a "modem problem" to "cannot connect to the server".
I´ve decided to move all messages in the server which were at /home/(userdirname)/Maildir/cur to an alternative location and suddenly everything started to work again - now everybody can read and send new e-mails.
The point is: those stuck e-mails that were in Maildir/cur were not read, and now I must provide a way of sending them again to the users. I´ve noticed all files got a ":2," appended to their names. I have already tried to rename them and put them back into Maildir/new with no success (when I do this, the Postfix moves those messages again to the Maildir/cur folder and append the :2, characters - also the user is unable again to receive his messages while I don´t remove them from the /cur folder).
Does anybody can help?
Thanks in advance,
elazarine
