When i select to scan for unread mails everytime i start Notes, the number of unread mails does not match the reality. Even when i look in all documents the number is incorrect.
What is the cause
If you read through some of the info on the IBM Notes site inc the forums, you will come to realise that unread marks drift.
This is something to do with the complexity of how they are dealt with by the client. It uses the Cache, the desktop file and the database to keep them upto date.
Mails can become marked as unread very easily, often when you have date/time issues on a cleint or server. When this happens inconsistancies can occur between what you can see and what is shown on the database itself. Basically mail is not being checked for the unread marks table, whether its unread or not.
Usually once you have inconsistancies the only way to fix this is to clear all of them down. Mark all unread. This clears the unread mark table in the database. Alternativly you can use exchange unread marks, if you have replicas of the same database with different unread mark counts.
