Unprotect/Clear Form fields in template

Here's what we're trying to do:

We have a template with text form fields which is protected for forms. The user will be opening the template by the normal, File, New procedure and we want to give them a button to clear their document after printing it.

I don't know any particular way but unprotecing and reprotecting for form clears the form fields
