I have used some sliders in my spreadsheet and want to protect most of the spreadsheet from manual change. The spreadsheet includes a linked graph, some sliders for setting parameters and the usual mix of formulae and text.

Even when I set the slider property to 'not locked', setting the 'protect sheet on' then prevents me from using the sliders. Is there any way to overcome this whilst still protecting the other cells?

Thanks for looking.

Hi,

UNLOCK the linked cell. Then Protect.

Another strategy is to use a hidden sheet for linked cells, if you don't want the user to fiddle with those unlocked cells. Then everything can be locked down on the viewed sheet.

BTW, it would add to the informative content of your question if you were to 1) use the proper term for the control (scrollbar, spinner, etc) and 2) the type of control (Forms or Control Toolbox).

Thanks for the little purple star.

Thanks for the pointer there Skip.

I had thought that it was a slider, but I remember now, I changed it to a scrollbar (from the Control Toolbox) as I needed to show the scrollbar value next to it i.e. on the same sheet.

Advice taken.

Cheers.
