We're running an IIS server (W2K) on our local LAN for testing pages destined for various production servers at our ISP's. We use mainly DSN-less Access connections.

When previewing pages on this server (which is local on our LAN and not at all busy), the database connection is terribly unstable. You can preview the same page, say 5 times, and get a successful hit say 2 or 3 times.

This is the most common error message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open
registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x544 Thread 0x70c
DBC 0x20a4024 Jet'.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this annoying instability? I've upgraded to the latest MDACs and Jets.

whoops, I should have also said that any of these pages, when they go to a production server, work fine. so we're pretty confident that it's not our code freaking it out.
