I need to extract the file listing (names, sizes etc) from a zip file and export it, preferably to Excel. Before starting to code this however, does anyone know if such a utility exists already as shareware or similar?

Thanks

Yes, it's called FREEZIP. Look for it on CNET downloads or a similar site.

Hi

The version of FreeZip that I looked at did produce an output - but only to DOS-type window. Thanks however for the suggestion.

I've drawn a blank meanwhile with various ShareWare suppliers, and therefore will almost certainly have to write my own.

linnet,

Sorry, I think I misread that you wanted to have zip/unzip capability, not the reporting of such. Look around on CNET - there's another one called "Zip Peeker" that may do what you want, but I haven't tried it.

Hi khood

You read me correctly the first time: in this instance the interest is simply to get a directory-type listing of the zipped-up files onto disk, as .txt or (ideally) Excel.

Sadly, Zip Peeker seems to be dead in the water.

Meanwhile I've started to code my own....... But thanks again for your suggestions.
