Hi Tech's

I have an xp issue, when I boot up xp I goto the blue screen of death. The error message is unmountable_boot_volume Stop 0x000000xED (80EF6AFE,0xC0000032, 0x000000, 0x000000)

My computer is a IBM think pad which came with a recovery CD which will only reformat the harddrive. I don't have the option of repairing my operating system, which come with a xp cd program..

I really need to file my files in my C: (NTFS)drive and in my D: (Fat) Partition..

Any suggestions will be welcome dearly

Thanks

Usuall a chkdsk /r in Recovery Console can resolve things:

If you have a floppy, you can run Recovery Console from the XP setup diskette set:
Failing all of the above, you could purchase in inexpensive adapter at your computer shop to allow a laptop hard drive to be mounted on a standard desktop IDE connector. Do so as a slave drive, and then run chkdsk /r on the volume.

Failing that option, create a PE bootable CD and try to repair the volume and/or to copy of its contents:
I use this variant of the Preinstallation Environment based on the work of Bart's PE:

Have a read of these.

Damaged File System
If the second parameter (0xbbbbbbbb) of the Stop error is 0xC0000032, then the file system is damaged.

Thank you for all your help
The program pe bootable cd did the trick to me.

Take care

Good job. Everyone should have a bootable PE CD for repair, particularly with laptops.
