Can anyone explain this? At least, the sample may help someone else with a similar problem.

We have two HR reports, a Position Summary and a Position Detail, both reporting off tables in Oracle's HR system. The Crystal Report (CR9) uses an ODBC connection with the "Oracle in 817" driver. The System DSN is "ERP". The report is requested from a Web page unrelated to our CE9 installation but residing on the same machine that hosts the CE servers.

The summary report uses only one database table (a view, actually) and is called by the following URL:

The detail report joins one other, employee-level table to the table used in the summary report. However, the same user/password format requires the user to enter the username and password even though it is supplied in the URL. A modified user/password format bypasses the logon request:

BO has a support article ( that suggested the user/password formats for the URL, but there is nothing in the article to explain why the two reports in my example each need a different format.

I'd be grateful if you could explain why?
