I have a project that I created in Excel 97. I usually run it in Excel 97 since that is what is on the pc that it was written for. I inadvertantly opened it in Excel 2000 and saved it. (also protected/locked) the vb code. Now when I try to unprotect it in Excel 97 it will not offer the unprotect password box and says the project is not viewable.

I can open it in Excel 2k and it works normally and I can view the code fine.

Is this a bug?

Thanks

I reopened the file in Excel 2K and unprotected it and saved it. It still is not viewable in Excel97.

However, if I open it in Excel 2K and unprotect it and CLEAR the password fields and save it, then it will open in Excel 97. Strange. Guess Excel 97 just does not like there to be a stored password even if it is disabled.

Maybe there is another explaination. But at least it works now.

Tks

PCX,
I've had the same problem. I've found if you lock the code in 97 and save it, you can open it in either 97 or 2000. But like you said, if you lock it in 2000, 97 won't unlock it.
