Hey,

I've got a .pdf file which I want to copy text from and paste into a MS Word document. Hoewever, this particular .pdf file is locked; it don't allow me to copy text from it, anyway around this? I could do a print-screen but the result is tacky which ofcourse being an image rather than text doesn't allow font or styles changes.

Thanks,
karmafree.

You might be able to open it into Illustrator and then do a copy/paste.

Is there a reason it is locked? DMCA

Hey,

Thanks for the response.
What the heck is Illustrator? Where can I download?
I think it's locked for copyright reasons; however, I'm using the information for academic purposes ;)

Illustrator is a drawing program made by Adobe (not cheap).:)

The only way I can think of doing what you want is to scan the printed PDF then use an OCR (optical character recognition) program on it to convert the text to an editable format. If the text is in a plainish font and can be scanned clearly, then OCR such as Omnipage or Textbridge might be able to do a reasonable job and then you might just have to do al ittle cleaning up of the words it couldn't read.
