Hi all,

Can anyone help me out by telling me why I keep on getting this error message in Paradox?

"Unexpected Error: General Protection Violation

Press 'OK', then save your documents and exit Paradox.
If the problem persists: press 'Abort' to terminate Paradox.
"

Any help on this would be much appreciated,

Thanks,

Woody

Woody,

It pretty much is what it says. It's Windows' (not Paradox's) standard response to a condition most programmers charitably refer to as "Oops."

Less facetiously, it's Windows' way of saying that a value in memory is not what was expected. This could be something like trying to manipulate a window that is no longer in memory and other types of errors.

Paradox overrides this just a bit to let you save your forms, close your tables and so on. Most programs just quit at this point.

It would be more informative to learn when the error appears and what you're doing when it does. There are certain known cases of this sort of error (some documented in the related articles at but we'd need more data to hazard any guesses at this point.

Sorry...
