I work in campus technical support and TODAY we have had 12 calls in regards to a virus..that is as it appears to be unknown. We run a virus protection called Innoculated here, that runs upon boot-up and apparently kills this virus, but cannot repair the problem, so we do not know the name. It has deleted ..dxd and .dll and .exe files so far. After it has done this it only lets us open files that do not involve the extention or file that was deleted, after this we have to reinstall whatever operating system the client is running HELP me, respond to this or e-mail me personally tamira_a@hotmail.com!!!!

Have you contacted the virus protection vendor ????

I'm not familiar with Innoculated so this is a shot in the dark, does this AV (antivirus) have a log file that tracks what it does? It might list what virus is detected and how it handled it.

The symptoms sound like the Navidad.exe virus. I just ran into a couple of cases on Win95 and Win2000 and you could not run the executable files. The way to check for this virus is to search for a file named winsvrc.exe or vxd. Symantec and a few other sites have a special tool to fix this problem. I did not find that any files were deleted just that winsvrc would prevent them from running.
