A few hours ago, my computer began acting strangely. At first, a website apparently used a flaw in IE to set my home page to a porn site, and disable the internet options so it's more difficult to change. Then, later I left my comp and the screen was all garbled and not responding. When I rebooted, I was told that no boot record could be found on IDE0 so insert a disk.

Rebooted several times, and still the same. Enabling the ChipAway Bios virus feature allowed me to get back to lilo,my boot loader, but when I select Windows, it detects a bootsector virus, and the time when windows did load, it could not find critical files such as himem.sys. Linux boots fine though thank goodness. If someone has some idea of what virus/problem this could be or a way to fix it then I would greatly appreciate your help.

This is a new one to me. It sounds like a variant of the JetHome Trojan Horse virus.
