Our openview system is continuously getting a trap from one of our Branch Office 450 switches. It looks to be a generic trap and I can't tell what it is for. I don't see anywhere on the switch that I can look to see what traps it is sending out. We have loaded the most recent MIBS in Openview. It seems to be sending it out every 30 seconds or so. Here is the trap:

1115932574 2 Thu May 12 17:16:14 2005 10.206.55.31 - Received event .1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.2.4.0.2 (enterprise:.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.2.4 generic:6 specific:2), no format in trapd.conf. 2 args: [1] private.enterprises.synoptics.products.series5000.3.3.1.1.4.6.0.0 (ObjectIdentifier): private.enterprises.synoptics.products.series5000.1.3.10.48.1 [2] private.enterprises.synoptics.products.series5000.3.3.1.1.10.6.0.0 (Integer): 5;1 .1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.2.4.0.2 0

Any ideas on how I can identify what this is about?

Is this in a stack or a stand-alone switch ?
What's the fw rev ?
Sounds like another "new guy" problem for you.

Stand alone switch running FW:V1.48 SW:v4.2.0.16 .

Try 4.2.0.22 or above.Have not seen it in those revs.

So you have seen these unknown traps in earlier versions of code? This is the only switch I have seen it on. The other running the same code seem ok so far.

Yes,but very infrequently.

Ayrish Girl,

This trap is part of an s5000 mib (system 5000 now long defunct) but still used by Baystacks. Its a chassis problem trap which on a Baystack normally indicates a fan failure.
If the switch is local, put your hand over each of the fan holes and see if the fan is turning.

I have the relevant traps in a trapd.conf file if you want them, but not sure i have the original mib anymore.
