Hello all,
I am creating a report (in VB .NET) that needs to have groups based on a couple of string variables. The problem is that I create the report, then pass a datatable to the report for the data, and I get the cryptic, completely useless "Unknown Query Engine Error" message when the viewer tries to display the report. If I remove the groups and run the report, it displays just fine. I have other reports in this same app that use string fields for grouping, and they work fine. The difference is that these other reports only get parameters passed to them, not all the data via a datatable. Also, if I put in a numeric field for the group - as a test - the report displays with no problems.
Has anybody encountered this before? Why can't I group on strings, but only when the data is passed in from VB?
I used to rock and roll every night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find 30 minutes a week in which to get funky. - Homer Simpson
