I did an NCP trace on a server and found various errors coming from another server - 'unkown nds ver'. Does anyone know wat this mean - as this constantly occurs and looks like it is producing my high ncp traffic going one way towards the server.

My servers are all Novell 5 and have no record of doing this sort of traffic except this one. ========================================

Is your version of DS the same across all of your servers? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

Have you run DSREPAIR on these Servers? If so, what were the results?

Good Luck!

No they are not - main servers are on DS ver 747
the inetrstate servers are on 733 ========================================

Novell has always recommeded that all of the Servers should be running the same version of DS.

Also, are all of your NetWare Servers running the same version of NetWare Support Pack? If not, make that your next project. Bringing each to Server to the same Support Pack level will help you standardize the version of DS.

Good Luck!

Will do thanks for that - but what does unknown DS verb mean? And how do you fix it? ========================================
