Here is the problem a co-worker experienced today. A client of his had a virus and when he went to look at it he is unable to run regedit, nortons, or any spyware programs. When had spysweeper on a cd and if he goes to install it, it won't..but if he renames the file from spysweeper.zip to test.zip..it will install but won't run. Also, if you go to google and search for anything with symantec or virus in it, the browser shuts down. In safe mode, regedit will open and we have looked in there for some entries regarding some viruses, but to no avail. Also Nortons 2003 will open, but you can't run a scan.

He found the issue, it was the W32.Serflog.A virus and you could run the removal tool. Thanks
