Is there a facility in W98 to determine which software is running in the background and accessing my hard disk. Sometimes this is so bad that the current foreground application will slow down or even stop while this activity takes place. Re-booting stops the activity for a while but then it builds up again.

As a technical user I assume you used the control+alt+delete to see the processes running.

If you need more than that try a program from AMS Software called Fast2.exe - this shows very detailed list of processes functioning.

Hope this helps.

I would recommend a scan for viruses, and spyware. You can get a trial copy of AdsGone or spybot at downloads.com

You can get a trial copy of McAfee or Nortons there too.

Good luck, and Happy Computing
