unknown Access file extension 1

I copied an Access 2000 database from another computer to my own (Win'2000) machine. The copy was successful, but added a new file where the file name is the same as the copied file, but the extension is .ldb. As best I can tell, this small file contains only *my* name and status (Administrator). - Can't find information about this extension in MS Access Help or elsewhere. Definition would be appreciated!

Thanks very much for your reply, which is right on the nose. Had searched the KB, but seeing the keywords assigned to the article, I'm not surprised I didn't find it. - Very useful info.
