UNIX - which OS 1

Hi there,

I'm a total UNIX newbie with what I hope is a simple question.

What is the command to determine which operating system I'm running on? We are currently on HP 11.0, however our system had massive problems last night and I suspect that sometime during the mess we switched to a new machine running HP 11i. So, is there an easy way to know which OS I'm running on?

Check out the 'uname' command

This should tell you what version the core operating system is at, but there could be a whole host of other versions for tools, libraries etc.
