UNIX Solaris Network connection Problem

Hi

I am having problems connenting my Ultra10 via 5-port switch
(generic and working), to the internet.

can't connect to internet or establish link to ISP
(cable broadband) and can't obtain a VPN tunnel either
with errors :

couldn't obtain IP address for device "hme0" (status 1).\r
open_tunel: get_host_ip failed\r

on bootup hme0 is isenabled for ipv4 and dhcp (I'm not strong on this area at all)

Any help welcome, as it's got me foxed.
