My question is does the exclude_list follow the dir structure and work recursively or not.

Example:

/oracle

If /oracle was in the exclude_list it and any dir under it would be excludeed. Now, will /oracle/db1 also be excluded if it is a mount point of its own?

I can not seem to find this documented anywhere on support.veritas.com and am receiving conflicting information from multiple veritas support people.

i believe there is an include list, ie opposite of exclude, but can't remember which takes priority. i imagine it can get a bit messy as you then have 3 places to keep up2dat, ie file list, include and exclude, so i would recommend keeping on top of the exclude list, then you only have 2 of 3 to keep on top of.. Makes ongoing admin much easier

One of the tricky ones. The best way would be to exclude the /Orical and then include the seperate path for /oracle/db1

Actually what I am wanting to verify is, if /oracle is in the exclude list, is /oracle/db1 also excluded if it is a seperate mount point. ie: is the exclude list recursive.

...and it will exclude a sub-directory even if it is a separate mount point.
I excluded /tmp and it ended up also excluding the following mount points:
/tmp/Ahab
/tmp/Barnacle
/tmp/Castaway
