How do you attach a different interface to a working RLP printer (name=kycolor). I have tried directing it in /usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/printers/kycolor , changed the configuration, interface: to /usr/spool/lp/model/HPLaserJet, I have made sure that /usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/model/kycolor is a copy of HPLaserJet. Yet when I issue the cmd:"lp -oc -dkycolor filename" I get no compressed print but when the same printer is connected to the lp0 name=Mainprt and I issue the same command :"lp -oc -dMainprt filename" it work great. I am using the same model on both. It acts like no interface filter is being used.....

Was this configured using the HPNP tools or as a printcap style printer?

If HP, the actual interface is in /usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces/model.orig/kycolo

Copy what you want to there or edit it directly.

If printcap, the easiest way is to front-end it with a virtual printer - see Tony Lawrence
