The Siemens tech just left. He said he had some problems I am trying to login to the system with engr and xxx.xxx or my id and password; but it is not accepting it.

I wonder if it is the default.

Does anyone know what I should try?

Oh forgot to mention it is a Hipath 4000 v5

More than likely he had trouble restoring your backup, or at least the "exports" part of your backup, which is what usually contains your user names, etc.

There is a Siemens password I know of that you could try, but I'm not going to post it out here in the open and I've been yelled at before for posting my E-mail address so I don't know how to communicate it to you. Sometimes it's a good thing we can't send E-mail on this site, and sometimes it's annoying.

Have you tried asking the tech for the default password? I am guessing you would use login engr and then enter the default password and it will force you to choose a new one. Then you would enter the password you normally use for engr and you should be good to go for the next 2000 years!

Yeah I could not wait for the Siemens Tech because I have other work to do, so I used the last UNIX backup we had to our FTP server from April 22, the hi-path reboot, after about 1 hr I was able to login as engr, I then ran a resync followed by a regen and then manually brought up the ACDAPP portion up. When the Tech finally showed up this morning, everything was good. I asked him to look over the switch.

I'm glad everything worked out, but I'm curious how you performed a Unix recovery without engr access? That should not be possible.

IAMNOTTHERE,

I logged into assistant as engr, then I restored using the backups we have on our ftp server.

OK. You started the thread by indicating that you could not login as engr after the restore. Obviously you figured it out.

I am sorry I was un-clear! I really would like to thank you for your help! It was extremely USEFUL!
